Bruxism mouth guards
Bruxism is the clenching or grinding of teeth. It is a parafunctional habit that mainly occurs during the night, but also during the day in times of intense stress. Patients experiencing bruxism mention having frequent headaches, pain or even noises in the joint. At the same time, we can also detect fissures, fractures and abrasion in patients’ teeth.
In these cases, it is advised that a personalized inter-oral mouth guard be fabricated and the patient be monitored.
Mouth guards do not cure bruxism, but they treat and prevent symptoms.
